About Me

I have been an elementary and secondary school teacher and administrator. Currently, I am a faculty member in the Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. My M.Ed. and Ph.D. had a focus on the educational and linguistic experiences of children who moved from other countries to Canada.

Eyes forward assessment: Changing how we conceptualize and engage in assessment

This past week, two of the students in my M.Ed. course, both teachers in local school systems, led a Master Class on "eyes forward assessment." They made a strong case for strengths-based, assessment-driven instruction ... the analogy being that when we drive we look forward and not backward. I am sharing the following resources with their permission.

They posted some great resources using a platform called Padlet: http://padlet.com/missjessweber/assessment. I really appreciated the global perspective they added to their presentation as attested to by two resources they used.

They posted their presentation using Google slides: http://goo.gl/qcLT6k

They also wrote reflection blogs on the experience and their professional learning plans. They are excellent posts and I would encourage you to check them out:
